Ready to get liposuction in Panama City Beach? Want to reduce fat without undergoing surgery? Our doctors offer  liposuction to tone and shape your body, reducing fat, and toning your shape.

Do you have those “pinchable” areas on your body — like on your stomach, thighs, hips or butt — that you want gone? Are pesky fat bulges ruining your bikini season (which, let’s be honest, is all year in Florida)? If you can relate to these scenarios, you’re not alone: even with strict adherence to good diet and exercise habits, many people can’t seem to shake those “problem areas” on their body. For these people, Dr. McAllister recommends his liposuction treatment to remove fat from these (and more!) areas, leaving a smooth body contour. Lipoplasty is a routine procedure at our Panama City plastic surgery center, so patients can rest assured that they’re in good hands.

Are You a Good Liposuction Candidate?

Ready to see what liposuction* can do for you? You might be considered a good candidate for the liposuction procedure if you:

  • Have one or more problem areas on your body (a stomach “pooch,” “love handles,” a spare tire, saddle bags, back fat, etc.)
  • Are at or near a healthy weight for your build
  • Have maintained a stable weight for six or more months
  • Are generally healthy, with no serious medical issues
  • Have firm, elastic skin
  • Are not pregnant or lactating
  • Are not wishing to remove a large amount of fat
  • Are not expecting liposuction to replace a healthy diet and exercise regimen

*Prior to having liposuction, talk to Dr. McAllister about the medications and vitamins you are taking. Certain medications that increase the risk of bleeding such as aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen) and some vitamins/homeopathic regimens should be discontinued prior to any elective surgery. Also, if you are a smoker, it is recommended that you stop smoking well in advance of the surgery, as smoking can affect your body’s ability to heal.

What is Involved in a Liposuction Procedure?

Dr. McAllister uses  liposuction, which is a form of liposuction that is less invasive than other methods, resulting in less bleeding, less swelling and minimal postoperative downtime. This surgical method requires only a local anesthesia (in the form of tumescent fluid injected into the area to numb it and swell the fat in the area for easier, more precise removal). Dr. McAllister then uses the latest technology to melt fat (and fat cells) while at the same time stimulating collagen production in the treatment area for a skin tightening effect.

What Can You Expect During Liposuction Recovery?

Because the liposuction procedure is minimally invasive, it entails minimal downtime and typically only a few days of recovery time. To ensure a healthy recovery, it is also important to refrain from smoking during this period, since smoking adversely affects your body’s ability to heal itself. You will likely experience only mild pain and bruising of the treatment area (or areas) afterwards. Tylenol and oral narcotic analgesics (prescribed by the doctor) can be used for a couple of days to help alleviate any discomfort. Dr. McAllister will place you in a compression garment that you will wear for the first two weeks after your treatment; this garment will help to alleviate any swelling, bruising and discomfort. After two weeks, you will be given a lighter compression garment to wear for a time recommended by the doctor, depending on your healing rate. Most of Dr. McAllister’s liposuction patients can return to work and their normal daily routine within a few days of their treatment.

You will notice your results immediately, and they will become gradually more noticeable as the swelling goes down and you see a more sculpted, leaner contour. Though future weight gain will not cause the problem area to re-appear (as all or most of the fat cells have been destroyed in the area and can’t be regenerated), the additional weight will appear in other places on the body. Therefore, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine in order to maintain the optimal results from this procedure.
