Want to get breast augmentation in Panama City Beach? Do you want bigger, fuller breasts with breast implants? If you’re interested in breast implants, the plastic surgeons at Coastal Plastic Surgery are here to help.

Have you always wanted bigger breasts? Were you once happy with your breasts, but that was before the effect that pregnancy, aging or weight loss had on them? Perhaps you want to balance out your proportions — by making your top and bottom half more even or by creating symmetry between breasts that aren’t the same size. If any of these scenarios sounds familiar, rest assured that you’re not alone. Many women have one or more of these issues and seek to enhance their breasts with breast augmentation.

Also known as augmentation mammoplasty — breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that increases breast size. During breast augmentation, breast implants are placed under the breast tissue or chest muscles. At his Panama City Beach plastic surgery center, Dr. McAllister offers a variety of implant options — including different choices of filling, size and shape — so that you can control the look and feel of your new, beautiful breasts!

Is Breast Augmentation Right for Me?

Since there are many factors that make a woman a good candidate for breast augmentation, we have compiled a list of general guidelines for candidacy. Breast augmentation surgery may be right for you if you:

  • Are unhappy with your breast size and wish to increase it
  • Have one breast that is larger than the other
  • Have lost breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Feel self-conscious wearing form-fitting clothing (bikini tops, etc.)
  • Are physically healthy, and have no serious medical conditions
  • Are 18 or older (for saline implants)
  • Are 22 or older (for silicone implants)

Saline vs Silicone Breast Implants

  • Saline breast implants.

Saline implants have an outer silicone shell filled with a saline (sterile saltwater) solution. These implants are a more economical choice than silicone implants, and they are more size-adjustable since they are inserted empty and then filled once in place.

  • Silicone breast implants.

Silicone implants consist of an outer silicone shell that is filled with a thick, cohesive silicone gel filling. Many women choose silicone over saline implants, since they look and feel the most like natural breasts.

What Size Breast Implant Should I Get?

Mentor Breast Implants Sizing System
Choose Implant Size using the
MENTOR® Volume Sizing

Not sure what size breast implant is right for you? At Coastal Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. McAllister uses the MENTOR Volume Sizing System, a breast sizing system that gives the patient the choice of 18 uniquely sized volume sizers (nine per breast) to “try on” so that they can better visualize the effects of surgery and pre-select a size that matches both their frame and the look they want.

Types of Breast Implant Incision Placement

  • Around the areola – This incision site, called the periareolar incision, is a circular incision made around the edge of the areola (the dark-colored skin surrounding the nipple).
  • In the breast fold – Also called the inframammary incision, this incision is made horizontally across the breast fold — the area under the breast where the breast mound meets the chest wall.
  • In the underarm area -The transaxillary incision is a small incision made in the armpit area, through which the implant is placed.

What are Your Breast Implant Placement Options?

Depending on a number of factors — such as the amount of fat on your body, your build and your aesthetic desires — Dr. McAllister will suggest placing your breast implants either under the chest muscle (submuscular placement); or over the chest muscle, underneath the breast tissue (subglandular placement).

Breast Augmentation Procedure Details

Dr. McAllister performs breast augmentation as an outpatient procedure. The surgery takes one to two hours to perform, and you will be placed under general anesthesia for the duration of the procedure. Once the surgery is finished, you will be placed in a soft surgical bra or soft bandages to protect the incisions and support the breasts as they heal.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

For the first few days after your surgery, you should relax as much as possible. However, it is also important that you are up and walking a little bit the day after surgery, as this will promote circulation, which will help with the swelling. Your breasts and chest area will be swollen and possibly bruised for the first one to two weeks. Avoid movements that involve lifting anything over 10lbs, pushing or pulling for the first two weeks. Dr. McAllister will give you more specific post-operative instructions to follow during the recovery period. Most of his breast augmentation patients return to work or school after one week, and moderate exercise (though no lifting, chest or back exercises) after two weeks.
