CelluSmooth Cellulite Reduction Treatment

  • “I’m embarrassed to show my legs.”
  • “I hate these lumpy, bumpy areas on my body.”
  • “I used to have such smooth skin.”

Do you say these things to yourself? Many women do, especially because cellulite affects more than 80 percent of the adult female population, to some degree. It is a frustrating condition which has defied treatment — until now.

CelluSmooth is a minimally invasive treatment that tones and tightens certain areas of the body that are prone to cellulite, such as the upper legs and buttocks. The procedure is performed at our Panama City Beach plastic surgery center setting under local anesthesia. Most treatments take less than 90 minutes. There is minimal downtime, and patients can return to normal activities in a few days.

What is Cellulite?

Basically, cellulite appears as a result of your body storing fat in a specific way. Cellulite develops when some of the fat in the buttocks and thighs gets stored in compartment-like structures called septae (Think of the dividers in an ice cube tray). Some compartments contain more fat and bulge upward, pushing on the overlying skin, while other compartments contain less fat and retract inward, pulling on the overlying skin. The thin layer of skin covering these areas accentuates these high and low areas, resulting in the irregular textures commonly associated with cellulite.

Prior to CelluSmooth, individuals tried countless treatments to improve the look of cellulite, without success. They tried numerous lotions, potions and other therapies, but experienced only minimal and / or temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite.

How does CelluSmooth work?

CelluSmooth is a unique approach to the treatment of cellulite in that it treats all three major components of cellulite: the septae, excess fatty deposits and loose skin. The first step involves using specific laser technology to cut and eliminate the fibrous septae compartments. Secondly, the laser is adjusted to melt the areas of bulging fat, creating a single smooth layer. Finally, the laser is used to tighten the skin in the treatment area.

You are asked to wear a snug compression garment over the treated area for the first few weeks after the procedure. There may be some slight bruising and swelling in the treated area, but these symptoms are normal and should subside with time. Most patients can return to normal levels of activity within a few days.

Patients will notice gradual improvements over the first few weeks, but full results may take 4-6 months to become apparent.

The procedure is demonstrated in the following video.

Who is a good candidate for CelluSmooth?

The best candidates for CelluSmooth treatment are of average weight, have good skin tone and are in otherwise good health. Poor candidates for treatment include patients with excessively loose or saggy skin or those who have medical conditions which prevent them from undergoing surgical procedures.

A consultation with Dr. McAllister or Dr. Dellinger can help you determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.
